The Lambhill project will aim to help a wide range of people in the area, not only those with mental or physical problems. In echoing
The Coach House Trust Model it will provide a new range of services with the following key features:
- It will provide a unique community-based facility offering a variety of activities and services for local residents and the general public based on the ecological work model established by the Coach House Trust.
- Customised training and supported employment for adults coping with chaotic lifestyles, mental health problems, physical disability and learning difficulties. Activities involve arts and crafts, furniture making, gardening, landscaping and environmental improvements and recycling activities.
- The Coach House Trust is recognised as an innovator in the field of mental health, environmental improvement and social justice. The uniqueness of its model comes from its emphasis on productive work, which provides a foundation for building confidence, core skills and a genuine work ethic, combined with a focus on environmental projects and sustainability (for example running a market garden, recycling activities, waste minimisation and bio-diversity projects). The Coach House Trust model is cost-effective, energy efficient and replicable.
- The aim is to develop the Lambhill Stables as a canal-restoration ‘extension project’ linked to the Green Corridor that is being created along the Forth and Clyde Canal between Sighthill and Maryhill Locks
