Lambhill Stables

Community Service

Lambhill Stables works closely with the criminal justice team at Glasgow city council. We believe that community payback can help break the cycle of reoffending by putting offenders to work to repay their dues to the community whilst delivering benefits to the local people. Lambhill Stables was recently awarded the Best Skills Building Project at the Scottish Community Service Awards.

We currently have people each day attending criminal justice placements doing manual work, cleaning up the canal area, rubbish disposal, gardening and clearing derelict land.

Since starting the criminal justice programme in February 2009 Lambhill Stables has achieved two fantastic success stories. Ex offenders Frank and Mark who attended criminal justice orders have been employed in paid roles as Community Service Supervisors. Both said doing a criminal justice order at Lambhill Stables gave them, in their words:-
“The hunger to get back to work”
“A purpose to get up in the morning”
“An opportunity to learn new skills with great satisfaction”
“Coming here changed my life”
Frank and Mark are fantastic role models who can talk about their experiences with the other offenders.
