Our experienced walking guide Michael Nakonecznyj was born and bred in Lambhill, when he is not talking out his team of local walkers he is busy bagging Munroe’s, canoeing on the canal, enjoying his garden and working on developing our new allotment space.
Michael leads a walking group, open to all every Friday. The meeting time is 11am and the tour begins at the stable buildings at Lambhill Bridge. The routes of the walk vary taking the tours round the following sites:-Possil marshes, Milton, western necropolis, the Forth and Clyde canal, Loch Fauld farm and Cadder crematorium.
Most of the walks take about one hour; routes vary depending on the weather.
Due to the success of our walking group we are currently producing local history and heritage pamphlets and a planning daily heritage trails. There are educational documentary DVD’s available; these materials will form part of a continuing programme of education in the Lambhill Stables building.
Did you know that the first recorded meteorite in Scotland landed in the Possil marsh in 1804?
